Bergamot Essential Oil
Bergamot Essential Oil
Description
Bergamot essential oil is a cold-pressed essential oil produced by cells inside the rind of a bergamot orange tree. It takes about 100 fruits to make 3 ounces of oil. Traditionally this oil was widely used by the Italians in folk medicine, particularly for treating fevers. Today it is widely used on the body and also in flavouring food. Bergamot can be rubbed between the palms the held over the mouth and nose, dropped on pulse points or used in a diffuser to act as an antidepressant, relieve anxiety and reduce stress.
It can also be mixed with water to create a grease-cutting face wash for oily, blemish prone skin and to spray on wounds to prevent infection. Bergamot oil has a wide range of health benefits including treating digestive issues, balancing hormones, removing acne scars, preventing acne, pain relief, and deodorising among other things.
